Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has consistently been voted one of the best airports in the world since its opening in 1998. HKIA offers a comprehensive network of passenger services and is currently the busiest cargo airport in the world. HKIA is also consistently expanding its multi-modal connectivity and capacity in order to serve greater catchment of visitors. TRS and the new expansion of Terminal 2 with all its associated landside transport facilities will fully support this vision into strengthening HKIA as a strategic multi-modal hub in the Greater Bay Area for the travellers from all over the world.

Objective

The Authority has engaged SYSTRA MVA as the traffic consultant in the development and enhancement of its surface accessibility and support facilities. This includes the Scheme and detailed design of the T2 expansion for the Three Runway System (TRS) expansion.

Scope

The study scope involved layout design of terminal and transport hub, terminal parking facilities and pick up/drop off area design, design of roadworks around terminal building, travel mode analysis of passengers and staff in airport and airport, traffic impact assessment, public transport demand assessment and transport facilities design.
