The West Kowloon terminus is at the heart of West Kowloon and the West Kowloon Cultural District and forms an international, cross boundary and HKSAR inter-modal hub. The High-Speed Rail at links the West Kowloon terminus will connect with the National High-speed Railway Network and will enhance Hong Kong’s role as the southern gateway to the Mainland.  

Objective

SYSTRA MVA carried out planning and design and construction stage services for the Hong Kong High Speed Rail West Kowloon Terminus (WKT) and the area nearby including the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD). WKT is the centrepiece of a transport hub formed by HSR, Airport Railway, Metro, and road-based transport set in a continuous traffic free pedestrian zone extending 80 hectares in West Kowloon.

Scope

SYSTRA Hong Kong is responsible for the high-speed rail terminus traffic and transport planning related designs.

This includes the internal passenger-related facilities sizing and planning (including the Hong Kong & Mainland CIQ for arrival and departure passengers), connectivity within adjacent major developments, external road network, Public Transport Interchange, internal station traffic, temporary traffic management during construction, topside property development, MLP study and so on.
