SYSTRA is leading the team providing design services during construction for the deployment of BART’s next generation train control system, Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC). This is one of the most complex CBTC modernization programs in North America and important for BART and the growth of the Bay Area.

This program is to modernize aging and obsolete train control equipment, increase train capacity throughout BART’s system, and execute the project consistent with the CBTC supplier.

Responsible for design support, program management, project controls, and administrative support, the team is supporting implementation of the supplier’s contract, ensuring work complies with specifications and industry standards, and meets the established operational and performance requirements.

Using a one team approach, SYSTRA’s staff is fully integrated into the BART project team, and all project participants are working together on the project, including 11 subconsultants.
