The General Consultant (GC) services for Phase-II Corridor from JLN Stadium to Infopark via Kakkanad represent SYSTRA India’s key contribution to expanding Kochi’s metro network. This 11.2 km elevated Pink Line will seamlessly extend the operational Phase-I network eastward. It will link the city centre to major IT and employment hubs such as Infopark, Smart City, Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ), and KINFRA. As a result, the Kochi Metro Phase 2 Pink Line Project will provide fast, reliable, and sustainable connectivity. The project will significantly reduce road congestion, promote green mobility, and catalyse economic growth in Kakkanad and surrounding areas.
As General Consultant, SYSTRA acts as the Engineer’s Representative. SYSTRA delivers end-to-end project oversight from design validation and construction supervision to systems integration, quality assurance, safety management, and commissioning. In addition, we ensure the corridor meets world-class standards while minimising disruption in a live urban environment.
Key features of the project
- 11.2 km Elevated Pink Line: Fully elevated viaduct corridor extends Phase-I at JLN Stadium to Infopark/Smart City via Kakkanad. It is designed for seamless integration with the existing metro network.
- 11 Elevated Stations: Strategically located stations serve high-density employment and residential zones. These include Palarivattom Junction, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Kakkanad Junction, Cochin SEZ, KINFRA, and dual Infopark/Smart City stations.
- Advanced Traction & Signaling: 750 V DC third-rail traction system and Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) provide high reliability. In addition, the system ensures energy efficiency and headway optimisation.
- Operational Performance: The line provides a maximum operating speed of 80 kmph. It also offers provisions for future-proof capacity enhancement and multi-modal integration, such as feeder buses and public bicycle sharing.
- Sustainable Urban Mobility: Elevated design minimises land acquisition. The focus includes green construction practices, noise & vibration control, and seamless last-mile connectivity. As a result, the project will boost daily ridership and reduce carbon footprint.
