Dr. Nishith Gupta, Chief Technical Officer

BIO

As the Chief Technology Officer at SYSTRA Group India, Dr. Nishith Gupta is a global authority in the design and management of complex underground structures and tunneling systems. He has enjoyed an illustrious 32-year career spanning Japan, Australia, Singapore, and India. Moreover, he serves as the strategic architect of the firm’s technical evolution. He bridges the gap between cutting-edge theoretical research and practical on-site application.

A visionary leader, Dr. Gupta holds a PhD in Earthquake Engineering from Saitama University, Japan, and a Master’s from IIT Roorkee. His technical mastery has been pivotal in delivering iconic projects. These include the Kolkata Metro’s historic tunnel beneath the Hooghly River, Mumbai Line 3, and the Versova-Dahisar Twin Road Tunnels. Beyond traditional engineering, he is currently spearheading SYSTRA’s expansion into AI-driven Smart SCADA, predictive maintenance, and green hydrogen infrastructure.

Dr. Gupta’s leadership is defined by a commitment to value engineering and geotechnical risk management. As a member of Engineers Australia and a frequent collaborator with the IITs, Dr. Gupta continues to shape the future of urban transit and smart city development through innovation and technical excellence.
