SYSTRA Hong Kong is immensely proud to be part of this journey since the planning and construction of the Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok going back to 1990’s, collaborating with the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), delivering comprehensive traffic engineering and transport planning consultancy services for this Mega project that ensure seamless passenger movement and operational efficiency throughout their travel journey.
Our services also include design of landside arrival and departure transport facilities, detailed sizing assessments to optimise coach parking, vehicle circulation, and passenger amenities, ensuring the infrastructure is ready to meet future demand.
T2 will serve as a critical gateway, enabling seamless passenger journeys connecting to the future T2 Concourse, and strengthening connectivity while unlocking opportunities for adjacent commercial destinations across the airport island. Passengers will enjoy convenient access to T2 via multiple public transport options as well as a short covered walkway links directly to Car Park 3, a six-storey facility offering more than 1,000 public parking spaces.
The expanded T2 covering 300,000 sqm has been thoughtfully designed for leisure travel. It brings together efficiency and comfort in a seamless departure journey. From check-in to immigration clearance, every touchpoint is enhanced by smart technology to deliver a smooth and intuitive experience. T2 is set to become a distinctive new landmark at HKIA. It is designed to support the airport’s Three-runway System (3RS) and deliver comprehensive services for both departures and arrivals, enhancing long-term capacity and connectivity.
Expected to handle around 8 million passengers in its first 12 months of operation, T2 will strengthen HKIA overall capacity and operational resilience, particularly during peak travel periods. It also underscores HKIA commitment to delivering world-class service and reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a leading global aviation hub.
With our ongoing involvement in the “SKYTOPIA” and connectivity projects, SYSTRA Hong Kong look forward to bringing AAHK’s vision into fruition.
The Study was led by Ir Francis Sootoo, Vice President, Consulting and supported by Edmund Kwok, Director, Traffic Engineering, and his project team.
