The New AirTrain system will be a critical component and centerpiece of the Newark Liberty International Airport modernization. As part of this effort, SYSTRA developed the pre-tender design of the maintenance and control facility, track, power distribution, and communications network.

The design involved close coordination with the maintenance equipment, car washer, and storage yard requirements and sustainable design criteria to be a LEED Silver facility. MCF is an efficient functional building with aesthetic elements shared with the architecture of the stations creating a cohesive identity for the entire AirTrain system. The MCF will serve three primary functions for the new AirTrain.
