Detailed design

A new rail project to enhance rail service in the Toronto area, this project will improve GO service reliability and connect commuters throughout the surrounding communities. By elevating the Barrie GO Line, passenger and freight service will be separated. The space under the structure will be redeveloped to benefit the community. SYSTRA developed the detailed design and provided construction engineering of the elevated guideway.

This project represents an important part of Metrolinx’s Regional Express Rail (RER) program, which will bring more train trips to GO Transit’s Barrie line and transform it from a commuter service to a frequent, two-way, all-day service.
