The Red Line Extension Program is the largest project in CTA history. It will provide faster connections from the Far South Side to the rest of the city while serving as an economic catalyst to one of the most disinvested parts of Chicago. SYSTRA, in a joint venture as the lead designer for the Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners, is responsible for the design of a wide range of systems, including structural, track, signals, communications, power, and electrical. Our role also encompasses systems integration and validation.
The project will add four new fully accessible stations, which will feature multimodal connections at each station. The 96th Street interlocking will enable trains to move from the existing Red Line mainline to 98th Street yard and shop and new Red Line mainline.
