Huanggang Checkpoint is currently the largest passenger and cargo road port in China. After 30 years of service, the Shenzhen Municipal Government proposed redeveloping the Huanggang Port in-situ and implementing the “collaborative inspection and joint clearance” arrangement.

The time for immigration clearance will be shortened from the current 20 ‍minutes to 5 minutes. The new Huanggang Port will have a design flow of approximately 200,000 ‍passenger trips and 15 000 cross-boundary vehicle trips per day.

The new port will be a multi-modal transport interchange, connecting intercity rail, metro lines, and cross-border transit.

It adopts a vertical stacking layout to maximize space and integrate seamlessly with surrounding green corridors.

Major challenges for transport planning were the integration of cross-border / local traffic; and restricted area of the two local governments / free area. A highly effective system is essential for this facility with 200,000 passenger trips per day.
