On November 15, Jørgen Bojsen-Møller celebrates his 40th anniversary at SYSTRA – a milestone that reflects four decades dedicated to large technical projects and ongoing athletic achievements. At 70 years old, Jørgen remains a central figure in the world of infrastructure and a passionate sailor who has elevated Denmark on the world stage with Olympic gold and countless world championships.

Large construction projects and an integrated part of SYSTRA

Jørgen started his career as a young engineer at DSB, where he quickly became part of major construction projects, including APO DC – a remote control system for the long-distance railway, which is still active today. In 1997, Jørgen was transferred to the Danish Railway Authority, and his department later became part of Atkins in 2001, which was subsequently acquired by SYSTRA in 2023, where Jørgen is now part of the Signal department. This development has made Jørgen an integral part of SYSTRA’s long history and highlighted his ability to adapt to significant changes in the industry.

Jørgen’s technical expertise, deep knowledge of our projects, and ability to always find solutions are things we greatly appreciate at SYSTRA. We are incredibly grateful to have been able to draw on Jørgen’s vast experience, perseverance, and not least his great sailing stories over the past 40 years.

In recent years, Jørgen has been involved in projects such as the Cityring and the Signal Program, the latter from 2011 to 2024. Now, the client Banedanmark has been replaced by Metroselskabet, where Jørgen cycles daily from his home in Lyngby to the office in Ørestad to work as Discipline Lead for Passenger Security & Information System, Control Centre, and SCADA on the new M5 line.

The DC project has probably been the most exciting project I’ve worked on – I became deeply involved in the development of the new remote control system over the 13 years I was part of it. A month ago, I started working on the M5 project for Metroselskabet, and I look forward to new challenges and being part of the collaboration in the years to come.

Jørgen Bojsen Møller

Olympic gold medalist and 10-time world champion

Jørgen has not only left his mark on Danish infrastructure projects but also in the world of sports. As a passionate sailor in the Flying Dutchman class, he has participated in four Olympic Games and numerous world championships – ten of which he won.

After a 6th place finish at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow and a 4th place in Los Angeles in 1984, he reached his peak in Seoul in 1988, where he, alongside his partner Christian Grønborg, won the Olympic gold medal.

This achievement was followed by a world championship title the same year, where Jørgen and Christian’s ability to sail under harsh weather conditions proved decisive. Jørgen also competed in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, where he won bronze alongside his cousin.

I’ve always had a deep passion for sailing and a strong competitive spirit. Over the years, it has meant a lot to me to be at a workplace like SYSTRA, where I’ve been able to combine both through a flexible approach to work.

Jørgen Bojsen-Møller

Today, at 70 years old, Jørgen is still active in sailing and won his tenth world championship last year. Together with his younger brother, he continues to participate in competitions and trains regularly, both on the water and with strength training and running.

At SYSTRA, we wish Jørgen a big congratulations on his special day and are grateful that, after 40 years, we can still rely on his vast experience.
