The main objectives are for the simulation model to verify the road conditions for users that will circulate on WHT in the years 2027 and 2037, in its complete operational state, according to two different road infrastructure scenarios (with or without Beach Links). ​

The Western Harbour Tunnel project (WHT) consists in adding a third motorway crossing of Sydney Harbour to the existing two saturated motorway crossings, namely the Harbour Tunnel and the Harbour Bridge. This ambitious project will increase road capacity to connect the Southern and Northern sections of the metropolis, which are cut through by Sydney Harbour, and improve driving conditions for all road users, be it public transport users, light and heavy vehicles.​
