The New Ansan Line is designed as a fast and efficient commuter rail network connecting northeastern Seoul with the western Gyeonggi province, passing through key areas of Metropolitan Seoul such as Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo, and Gwangmyeong Station.

The line is planned to be fully underground at a depth of more than 40m, directly linking Ansan and Siheung in Gyeonggi province to Yeouido in Seoul, thereby avoiding interference with underground facilities and minimizing land‑use issues.
