A modern road network must meet today’s requirements for sustainability, accessibility and road safety. This forms the basis of our solutions and our collaboration with clients and partners on the construction, upgrading and maintenance of roads, motorways and cycle paths.

A strong partner – regardless of project size

We have extensive experience in pavement design as well as in assessing pavement condition and bearing capacity, including the evaluation of the optimal future maintenance strategy based on traffic levels and financial considerations.

We design and plan all types of road infrastructure in accordance with the applicable road standards. We deliver 3D design in NovaPoint, InRoads/PowerCivil and MX. To assess vehicle space requirements and pavement structure design, we use AutoTurn and MMOPP.

In addition, we incorporate road safety and accessibility into all phases of road projects, and we can also provide reviews at every stage.

søborg hovedgade

With the transformation of Søborg Hovedgade, Gladsaxe Municipality has gained a green, vibrant shopping street with a strong local identity that sets new standards for diverse urban and retail life.

The project supports sustainable mobility and social interaction and represents an important step in the development of a resilient and attractive district. SYSTRA has been part of the advisory team throughout the entire project process and has, among other things, been responsible for analyses of road structures, traffic safety conditions and the promotion of cycling.

Services

We provide reliable and focused advisory services throughout the entire process – from early planning and design to construction management and final handover to the client.

We carry out:

  • Preliminary studies and EIA assessments
  • Planning, client consultancy and construction cost estimates
  • Concept design, detailed design, tender documentation and contract award
  • Supervision, construction management, handover to the client and warranty inspections

In the various project phases, we carry out:

  • Project management, quality management and environmental management
  • Technically optimised solutions in areas such as drainage, pavement design and material selection
  • Advisory services on topics such as road safety (road safety audit), accessibility (accessibility audit), autonomous transport, sustainable choices in the construction phase (including InfraLCA), and road authority services in accordance with the Danish Roads Act and the Danish Private Roads Act

We appoint health and safety coordinators for both the design phase (P coordinator) and the construction phase (B coordinator).

Noise and Vibrations

At SYSTRA, we advise on the assessment and management of noise and vibrations in connection with the screening and design of roads, railways and infrastructure projects. We use advanced noise models and detailed data to deliver comprehensive noise reports and technical notes, providing our clients with a solid and well-founded basis for decision-making.

We calculate noise from both existing and planned roads. We develop noise models based on digital geographic data, housing registers and traffic data, and we carry out all noise calculations in SoundPLAN. We use the common Nordic calculation method, Nord2000, to model sound propagation under different meteorological conditions and as an annual average. In this way, we ensure that any noise impacts are assessed consistently for everyone, regardless of geographical location or season.

Reducing Noise Through Motorway Capping

For Høje-Taastrup Municipality, SYSTRA carried out a concept study on the effects, economics and financing of a full deck-over of sections of the Holbæk Motorway. The study concluded that fully covering the heavily trafficked motorway would not only reduce noise levels to below the Danish limit value of 58 dB for a large number of residents (more than 1,000 in Hedehusene), but could also reduce noise levels to below 53 dB.

Drainage of Roads and Paths

A well-functioning drainage system is an important element in ensuring proper road safety and traffic flow on our roads, railways and paths. At SYSTRA, we have many years of experience in the design, supervision, construction management, as well as the operation and maintenance of drainage systems for road infrastructure, rail infrastructure, bridges and other civil structures.

We have extensive experience advising public authorities, municipalities and, not least, private clients on everything from small junction upgrades and cycle paths to the construction of complex motorway widening schemes. No two clients are the same, and neither are our solutions. We always begin by listening to your needs and objectives so that we can tailor our advice and services precisely to your requirements.

We work with the latest design tools, including 3D modelling, which, combined with the professional expertise and creativity of our specialists, ensures projects of a very high quality.
