More than ever! Structuring it into home countries has given local managers greater latitude. They know their own markets better than anyone. They are best placed to take the right action, keeping the Group’s strategic priorities in mind. At the same time, we have never been so connected: we have successfully implemented an international production approach, connecting our centres of expertise and our teams, and doing away with geography, in a manner of speaking. Mobilising nine of our Business Units and more than 1,000 people worldwide on one given project (the high-speed HS2 line in the United Kingdom) has never been done before in engineering. So today, SYSTRA is capable of drawing on a global strikeforce to provide local solutions. That doesn’t just apply to our technical production teams: it also applies to our support functions – who are also working as part of an integrated network. Our “Connected Teams” value is real and forms the backbone of our company. It also provides our teams with a great deal of motivation throughout the world! Jean-Charles Vollery: We need to be independent to ensure our reputation and our position as a trusted third party. Engineering’s role is to help our clients find the best solution and then to oversee its implementation – completely independently. Being independent means that we can better manage our future and choose projects on which we want to work, as well as the way in which we want to implement them. Arnaud Jeudy: Globally, we have managed to shore up our position across all major transport engineering markets. But the competition is taking shape and becoming stiffer. So we need to remain vigilant. Our strategy involves establishing SYSTRA as a market leader in all of our home countries. We wish to be our clients’ partner of choice. We want them to choose us because of our agility, our innovation capabilities and our ability to formulate the best solutions, as well as where we stand on sustainability issues. And we mustn’t forget that being a leader is not just about figures. It’s also about continuing to attract the most talented people and increasing employee satisfaction across the board. Can it still be said that SYSTRA is a group?” Gunjan Thanki, BIM Manager, SYSTRA India “We have posted record figures this year. Does that put us in a leading market position?” 3 Mohamed Ali El-Sotary, Engineer, SYSTRA Egypt
