WHY IS FLEXIBILITY IMPORTANT IN THE WORKPLACE?
We’ve learned a lot from the corona lockdown, and one of the things is that many people actually really appreciated the flexibility that working from home provided, and for many different reasons. For some, it meant significantly less commuting time, for others it meant more peace of mind, more time with family or something entirely different. We were once again reminded of how different our needs are and how important it is that we create a workplace where everyone can thrive.
WHAT IS FLEXIBILITY AT SYSTRA ABOUT IN CONCRETE TERMS?
We work with flexibility in four different areas: working hours, workplace, salary package and office space. Some of these areas are not new, while others are still under development.
Working hours
We have fix-flex agreements that influence the times of day you work, and we also make agreements on reduced hours – either permanently or for periods of time. The aim is for us all to have a work-life balance.
We all go through different stages of life, and at SYSTRA we want to make it possible to find a good balance, no matter where you are in life.
Place of work
With our work-from-home policy, we all have a greater say in where we work, and many of us appreciate the variety between being with colleagues in the office on some days and being able to avoid transportation and immerse ourselves at home on other days.
In addition, location flexibility can also be about mobility between our offices, and we have many great examples of this.
Salary package
We have the opportunity to influence the composition of our salary package through gross salary schemes, other benefits and flexible pension contributions. We all have very different wants and needs: Some people find a massage plan or a new phone valuable. For others, it’s important to be able to buy a rail pass through a salary sacrifice scheme. We try to accommodate that. We’ve brought it all together on an employee portal, where we also have a wide range of discounts available.
Office space
The way we work has changed – especially due to increased digital collaboration, which means more Teams meetings. Our physical environment needs to support this. Coming to the office is not just about working from your desk, but also about using your physical presence to strengthen community, knowledge sharing and collaboration. That’s why at our head office in Ørestad, we’ve introduced flexible workspaces in a contemporary and modern design that considers both digital and physical collaboration.
We know that there are colleagues with special needs in terms of space and equipment, and colleagues who come to the office every day, and we take their needs into account. That’s why inclusion is an important element when designing our workplace in SYSTRA.
