Stopped in 2016 after ten years of studies, the monorail project for the KAFD (King Abdullah Financial District) in Riyadh has been relaunched with new assignments for SYSTRA.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
SYSTRA has been supporting the project since 2022 by providing Technical & Supervision services, for both the systems and the civil engineering. The project involves more than twenty employees across Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and France.
3.6km long, the monorail will feature driverless autopilot operation and have a single circular elevated track, 6 elevated stations, and 6 trains with two carriages each. It is expected to carry up to 3,500 passengers per hour at peak times.
The tracks will wind between the main towers of the district and the system will connect with the Riyadh Metro. The maintenance centre and workshop will be adjacent to the centralised control station, which will be fully automated.
