SYSTRA Canada is part of the SYSTRA group, an international consulting and engineering group, a world leader in the design of transport infrastructures. SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.

 

Context

The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Missions/Main Duties

  • You will be responsible for leading the design studies of the elevated structures, ensuring their technical consistency and compliance with project requirements.
  • You will supervise the preliminary design work, with the design maturity level ranging between 5% and 10% of the overall project design.
  • You will propose innovative and optimized design solutions aimed at enhancing the overall project performance while adhering to technical, economic, and environmental constraints.
  • You will be in charge of coordinating and managing the graphical production teams based in another CTR, ensuring the quality and progress of the work.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of elevated structures deliverables, in line with both cost and schedule objectives.

Profile/Skills

Education: A bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, along with eligibility for membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). 

Years of experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience as a structural engineer, with specific expertise in designing aerial structures for High-Speed Rail projects.

Technical competencies:

  • Design and analysis of elevated structures, with knowledge of applicable standards.
  • Proficiency with CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, BIM).
  • Project coordination and supervision of multidisciplinary teams remotely.
  • Management of schedules, deliverables, and adherence to cost and deadlines.
  • Proposal of innovative solutions and optimization of designs according to project constraints.

 

Personal and soft skills:

  • Leadership and team management abilities to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking to address technical challenges and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
