Dalbroen, which today carries the Holstebro highway over Storå between Aulum and Holsterbro, consists of two twin bridges.
Description of the project
As a consultant for Jorton A/S, SYSTRA (formerly Atkins Denmark) designed the 290-meter-long valley bridge. The task also included the design of a slab bridge on sheet pile walls that carries the crossing Hodsagervej under the motorway.
Each of the two bridges consists of two lanes and an emergency lane. The gap between the bridges allows sunlight to go through and gives the structure a lighter appearance in the landscape
Due to the length of the bridges, the superstructure was cast in two stages. Additionally, one of the bridges needed to be completed earlier so it could be used in the Highway construction work.
