57.6 million Danish kroner has been allocated to completely refurbish Kalundborg Station in Vestsjælland. The objective of the refurbishment is to make the station inviting and safe to stay at.
AN UNCLUTTERED, ATTRACTIVE, AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT
At present, Kalundborg Station is a large area with many diffuse functions that do not relate to the travelers. The station’s functions do not meet current needs, and the station generally appears worn and gloomy. The total renovation of the station will take place in two phases, carried out in 2025-2026.
SYSTRA recommends increasing the density of the passenger flow to create a basis for an uncluttered, attractive, and safe environment. Additionally, building parts that restrict and darken the station area should be removed. This will allow for the establishment of a new forecourt on Jernbanevej with good accessibility, facilities, and seating options for users. The entire station area will also be beautified with the planting of green plants. This will be done in the first phase of the project.
In phase two, the focus will be on modernizing and renovating the station building.

We are very pleased to contribute to making Kalundborg Station an attractive, safe, and secure place to be. It is an exciting project where we are represented by many disciplines including architects, landscape architects, environmental specialists, railway safety experts, and occupational health and safety coordinators. We look forward to collaborating with DSB Ejendomme and ISC as sub-consultants.

The design phase is expected to begin in spring 2024. The coalition behind the Infrastructure Agreement 2035 has allocated 57.6 million Danish kroner for the renovation. The funds come from the pool for safer and more attractive stations, which was allocated in connection with the Infrastructure Plan 2035.
