SYSTRA has been awarded a 4-year framework agreement with Banedanmark for safety technology validation. With our many years of experience and certified validators, we look forward to continuing to ensure the safety and functionality of the Danish railway.

THE LAST OF ITS KIND

Technical validation in safety is an area where SYSTRA has built extensive experience over many years of work. Our validators are approved by Banedanmark in accordance with the QN983 Q no. 1554 standard, which qualifies us to perform validation of a range of specified safety system types.

SYSTRA previously had a similar 4-year framework agreement, which has now expired, and we are pleased to be entrusted with this new, longer-term agreement. This framework agreement is likely to be the last of its kind, as the new signaling program will gradually replace the old safety systems, and there will therefore no longer be a need for this type of validation once the new systems are fully rolled out in Denmark.

SAFETY AND HISTORY: THE FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE OF RAILWAYS

We are very proud and pleased to be part of the framework agreement and to continue performing these validations for Banedanmark. In Risk Management, safety is our core focus, and we take pride in being part of Denmark’s railway history, especially when we occasionally work with installations that are over 100 years old. At the same time, we are delighted that SYSTRA is part of the Signal Program, thereby contributing to ensuring that the future railway infrastructure remains safe and efficient.

Dorte Wang, head of SYSTRA’s Risk Management department

According to Danish legislation, any modification to a safety system must be validated by an independent entity before an application for commissioning approval can be submitted. The validator ensures that the modification is functional and safe by reviewing the system and standard drawings for the specific change. Based on the results of the validation, i.e., when the number of remarks is deemed safety-compliant, the system is recommended for approval.

At SYSTRA, we look forward to continuing our important work in ensuring the safety and functionality of the Danish railway, both through our current framework agreement and future projects.
