We are involved in all lines of the Copenhagen Metro
We have had the pleasure of contributing to all lines of the Copenhagen Metro — including M4 to Nordhavn, where we assessed the alignment to Orientkaj. Now, we look forward to creating even better public transport solutions together with Metroselskabet and Vanovis.
The metro extension to Outer Nordhavn consists of 1.6 km of elevated railway with two new stations — Levantkaj and Nordsø Plads.
As advisors, SYSTRA will, among other tasks, plan and execute land transfers, prepare easements, and conduct dialogue and agreements with landowners to ensure the best possible conditions for both the construction and operation of the metro.

We are very pleased to join the task of extending the metro to Nordhavn together with Vanovis, and we look forward to a constructive and strong collaboration with Metroselskabet. At SYSTRA, we have had the pleasure of contributing to all lines of the Copenhagen Metro — including M4 to Nordhavn, where we assessed the possible route alignments to Orientkaj. We are excited to build on our experience in the new metro extension and help create the best solutions for Copenhagen’s public and sustainable infrastructure.

We look forward to ensuring that all land and rights matters related to the Nordhavn metro extension are handled professionally and efficiently. The project places high demands on coordination and collaboration across disciplines and stakeholders, and at SYSTRA we are ready to contribute to an integrated solution that supports both the continued development of Nordhavn and the capital’s sustainable mobility.

About the extension of metro line M4
- The extension of M4 includes two new stations, Levantkaj and Nordsø Plads. These two stations continue the line from Orientkaj and are planned as a 1.6 km elevated section.
- Once the stations are completed, passengers to and from Outer Nordhavn will have direct access to the inner city districts and several major transport hubs, with a travel time of approximately 7 minutes from Nordsø Plads to Østerport — and about 14 minutes to Copenhagen Central Station.
- The expansion will be a key element in Copenhagen’s largest urban development area, where Nordhavn is expected to accommodate up to 40,000 residents as well as workplaces and cultural activities towards 2070.
- M4 to the stations Nordhavn and Orientkaj opened in March 2020 as a branch of the M3 Cityringen, providing new, fast connections between Nordhavn and other parts of the city.
