Less Noise with Green Benefits

In 2022, SYSTRA, in collaboration with KI Consulting Engineers and Lützen Architects, conducted a conceptual study on the effectiveness, economics, and financing of a fully shielding structure with solar panels over the Holbæk and Amager motorways for the municipalities of Høje-Taastrup and Hvidovre.

With higher noise barriers or the covering of the motorways, the Danish Road Directorate and municipalities can reduce the harmful noise from the largest and busiest roads. SYSTRA has conducted studies for municipalities such as Høje-Taastrup and Hvidovre on the effect of a shielding structure over the Holbæk and Amager motorways. Solar panels can be installed on the shielding, providing power to more than 1,300 houses.
