2023 has been an exciting year for SYSTRA Denmark, as we have become part of a larger group and strengthened our position in the infrastructure market.

A MAJOR PLAYER IN THE INFRASTRUCTURE MARKET

On August 31, 2023, our Danish business, Atkins Denmark, officially became part of the French company SYSTRA. As of the same date, the former Atkins Denmark A/S changed its name to SYSTRA Denmark A/S and became part of the SYSTRA Group. With the acquisition in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, the SYSTRA Group now has 11,000 employees worldwide. As part of the SYSTRA Group, SYSTRA Denmark has the opportunity to become an even larger player in transport and infrastructure consulting, thereby further strengthening our leading position in the rail sector. This allows us to bid more effectively on large projects and offer our clients a broader range of services and specialist knowledge.

CONTINUED STRONG ACTIVITY ON OUR PROJECTS

In 2023, we have continued our work on major infrastructure projects such as the Signal Programme, the expansion of the Øresund Motorway, the expansion of the Hillerød Motorway in collaboration with NIRAS, track reconstruction between Svanemøllen and Hillerød, the upgrade of the Østbanen, and the new railway in West Funen – all of which showed significant activity in 2023.

In addition to the execution and planning of major infrastructure projects, we have expanded our portfolio in 2023 with the initiation and completion of an increasing number of projects where expertise in digitalization, sustainability, and climate plays a crucial role – now with even more experts across borders through the SYSTRA group.

We have continued to advance our strategic initiatives and have made further progress in sustainability, climate, and digital transformation.

HIGH CUSTOMER AND EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION

Once again in 2023, we score highly on our customer satisfaction, with our creativity, expertise, and commitment being among the top-rated parameters. We have successfully achieved an overall customer satisfaction score of 8.5 on a 10-point scale (2022: 8.8).

Our projects and consulting services are often delivered by interdisciplinary project teams, where mutual professional respect and strong collaboration skills are central. Well-being is high on the agenda here at SYSTRA Denmark and is also reflected in our latest employee satisfaction survey from 2023, where 95% of employees rated SYSTRA Denmark as a company where they feel safe and comfortable with their colleagues. Similarly, 91% believe that we support each other during difficult times, and 93% feel that they can discuss challenges and new ideas with their immediate supervisor.

EXPANDED CUSTOMER PORTFOLIO AND STRONG ORDER BOOK

In 2023, we successfully achieved our strategic goal of expanding our client portfolio in the infrastructure and utilities sectors, and we concluded 2023 with a strong order book for 2024.

During the fiscal year, we reached a net revenue of DKK 354 million (2022: DKK 346 million), corresponding to a growth of 2% compared to 2022. For the Danish operations (excluding our subsidiary in Sweden), the result of primary operations ended at -0.5 million DKK (2022: 7.6 million DKK). This result was significantly impacted by the transition to SYSTRA, which incurred extraordinary costs.

Our results in SYSTRA Denmark A/S (including our subsidiary in Sweden) were also affected by the fact that our subsidiary SYSTRA Sweden AB had another challenging year financially, with a result of -18 million DKK (2022: -22 million DKK before tax).

2024 – EXPANDED KEY POSITION AND STABLE ACTIVITY

We are well into 2024, with high levels of activity and a consistently strong order book. We anticipate stable activity for the rest of the year, during which we will continue to develop in sustainability, climate, and digital solutions. We look forward to maintaining a strong collaboration with our clients and partners.
