SYSTRA Hong Kong was secured two latest awards for the Leung Fung Yee Building and Kunkle Student Centre at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) presented by The Quality Building Awards 2024 (QBA 2024) Award.

The Project Team led by Leigh & Orange Limited Architects, received the Sustainable Development Award and the Merit Award for Hong Kong Non-Residential (New Building – Government, Institution or Community).

The project comprises three main parts covering a site area of 2050 m2. The Lower Block, namely Kunkle Student Centre, serves as a student activity centre with a wide range of student amenities and The Upper Block, namely Leung Fung Yee Building is designed as a re-provision of demolished staff quarters, with addition of visitor flats and special student amenities like black box theatre and fitness centre and the Link-bridge is provided connecting the two blocks.

SYSTRA Hong Kong provided Traffic and Transport Consultancy Services for the Leung Fung Yee Building and Kunkle Student Centre

SYSTRA Hong Kong provided Traffic and Transport Engineering Consultancy with strategic sustainable mobility solutions for the Redevelopment of the Project. Our key Scope included Transport and Traffic Design and Assessment in support of the general transport related facility and accessibility layout design and Statutory Submissions.

Key Scope and Solutions:

  • Transport Accessibility Review and Study
  • Transport Servicing Provision Estimation and Optimisation
  • Traffic Engineering Design for Access Arrangement, Internal Vehicular Traffic Circulation, Carpark Layout, Loading & Unloading Area as well as Pick-up Drop Off Bay
  • Swept Path Analysis and Technical Review for Internal Traffic Facilities including Internal Carriageway, Drop Off Facilities, Carpark etc.
