MODERNISING ESSENTIAL NETWORKS Mobility networks, which are critical because of the important role they play in the everyday lives of millions of people around the world, are being modernised to make them more efficient and increase their capacity. SYSTRA has been involved in modernising the New York subway for more than ten years More than and is using CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) technology on three new lines. This drive to automate these three 100-year-old sections will change the everyday lives of more than a million passengers. Signalling is core to a newbillion more people chapter which is getting underway in Italy for the 140 kilometres of railway lines in the Campania region: the ERTMS (European on the planet Rail Traffic Management System) will start improving reliabilityby 2050, i.e. 9.7 billion starting in 2026. The same system is in the process of being rolled out over Denmark’s 2,400 kilometres of railway track.
