SYSTRA joins the top five transport engineering firms in the ENR 2026 rankings

Based on revenue generated in 2025, the ENR 2026 rankings confirm SYSTRA’s sustained rise among the world’s leading engineering companies. They also reflect the relevance of the Group’s strategy to strengthen its presence in growth markets, notably through its recent acquisitions.

In the Transportation ranking, which brings together the ten largest international engineering consultancies in the sector, SYSTRA climbs two places to reach 4th position. The Group thus enters the Top 5 for the first time, one of the objectives of its development strategy, and strengthens its position as the leading French company in this ranking.

In the Top 225 International Design Firms, which compares revenue generated outside each company’s domestic market (outside France for SYSTRA), the Group moves up one place to reach 20th position. This new advance confirms SYSTRA’s steady progress since entering the top 30 five years ago, as well as the continued strengthening of its international business.

In the Top 150 Global Design Firms, which considers all design activities, including domestic markets, SYSTRA achieves its strongest progression with six places gained. The Group now ranks 36th worldwide and consolidates its position among the 50 largest engineering consultancies in the world.

These results demonstrate SYSTRA’s sustainable growth momentum, the strength of its international development model, and its ability to position itself on the most ambitious projects in the most promising regions and markets. SYSTRA is now contributing to more than 50 high-speed rail line projects and 150 metro projects worldwide.

SYSTRA publishes its 2025 Integrated Activity Report

SYSTRA publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report

As an engineering company, we have an advisory role: it is our responsibility to propose solutions that make projects more sustainable, so that environmental, energy transition, and infrastructure resilience issues are better taken into consideration.;

Each year, SYSTRA publishes a sustainability report to present the Group’s main sustainability challenges and achievements.

For 2025, SYSTRA is publishing a voluntary and focused transition sustainability report, anticipating the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) regulations without yet being subject to it. By publishing this report, SYSTRA reaffirms its determination to align economic performance with environmental and social impact, in a spirit of anticipation and continuous improvement.

This choice is a commitment: to report, with rigour and clarity, on the value we create and the transformations we are driving to accelerate the transition of mobility systems and territories. Our action is based on demanding standards in health, safety, and security (3S), ethics, environment, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. These commitments are the pillars of the trusting relationship we maintain with our stakeholders.

SYSTRA joins forces with BG&E to strengthen its presence in Australia and develop a global offering for complex buildings

Together, SYSTRA and BG&E will have more than 1,000 employees in Australia and New Zealand, further strengthening their position in one of the world’s most dynamic infrastructure markets. With a comprehensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary engineering services covering the entire project lifecycle, SYSTRA and BG&E will be able to deliver high-quality, sustainable technical solutions to their clients, who will benefit from the best international practice and the continued backing of a global engineering leader. Furthermore, BG&E’s presence in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates will enable SYSTRA Group to strengthen and expand its offering in these countries.

Beyond its geographical footprint, this transaction gives SYSTRA the opportunity to build a global offering in the field of complex buildings. Initially recognised for its design work on transport-related structures (stations, depots, maintenance centres), SYSTRA, thanks to the integration of BG&E’s expertise, now expands its scope to all types of complex buildings. This newly combined network will bring together more than 700 specialists, able to operate anywhere in the world.

The acquisition comes at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation in the infrastructure sector and underlines SYSTRA and BG&E’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of their clients and communities.

SYSTRA acquires Ardanuy Ingeniería, a leading Spanish engineering company

More than 350 new employees are thus joining SYSTRA teams in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, as well as in India and the Baltic countries. This will enable the Group to strengthen its technical expertise in the field of transport systems and infrastructure.

Furthermore, this acquisition strengthens SYSTRA’s presence in Spain, Portugal, and Hispanic America, where the Group supports numerous public and private clients on major projects such as the metros of Santiago, Bogota, Panama, Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona; road concessions in Peru, Colombia and Chile; as well as high-speed projects in Portugal and Spain. This growth momentum was recently illustrated by the successful integration of the Spanish company Subterra, acquired in March 2023, which specialises in tunnels and underground structures.

With this acquisition, SYSTRA continues its commitment alongside public and private stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-performance, sustainable transport infrastructure, supporting the transformation of regions and communities’ mobility.

SYSTRA moves up one place in ENR’s ranking of international design firms

The published rankings, based on turnover in 2024, confirm the progress made by SYSTRA in recent years. This also reflects the implementation of our strategy of establishing a presence in the most attractive countries and our ability to position ourselves on the most promising projects in our fields of activity.

In the Transportation ranking, which lists the ten largest engineering firms in the mobility sector, we have maintained our 6th place position, achieved in 2024. We remain the leading French company in this ranking.

In the Top 225 International Design Firms, which ranks companies by their international turnover (generated outside France for SYSTRA), the Group has moved up another place to 21st, continuing its steady progress over the last four years since we entered the top 30, confirming the Group’s internationalisation.

In the Top 150 Global Design Firms, which ranks companies based on their total revenue including their domestic market, SYSTRA remains in the global top 50, which we entered in 2022, and is ranked 42nd.

The rankings for the Mass Transit & Rail and Bridges categories will be announced in December when the Global Sourcebook is published.

A bridge that changes lives

In the south of Rwanda, 10 hours from Kigali, the river Rubyiro, quick to burst its banks, has for a long time dictated its law to the 6,600 or so inhabitants of the Rusizi district. The river’s regular flooding prevented them from accessing healthcare and essential services, putting their lives in danger every time they crossed on foot or by motorbike. Schoolchildren, pregnant women and farmers were all occasionally cut off from the infrastructure that was essential to their communities.

SYSTRA has been a partner of the NGO Bridges to Prosperity since 2016 and sent a team of 10 volunteers to the region to build a solidarity bridge, which was inaugurated on 29 November 2024.

The 68-metre suspension bridge is made entirely of steel and has a 25-year guarantee. It is maintained by the Rwandan workers who took part in its construction.

Five months after its inauguration, the annual income of the local population has risen by 30%, and 2,500 children have improved access to schools and nearly 700 women to maternity wards.

This is the third solidarity footbridge to be built by SYSTRA in Rwanda, following those at Shyagari, erected in 2022, and Rusumo in 2023.

New positions gained by SYSTRA in the ENR rankings

The results of the American magazine ENR once again illustrate the growth of the Group’s international sales. These two new positions put SYSTRA on the podium of engineering firms in the Mass Transit & Rail and Bridges categories. 

These rankings, which are based on 2023 turnover, are in addition to the results published in August:

• #6 in the Top 10 Transportation firms, which compares sales in the field of mobility,

• #22 in the Top 225 International Design Firms, which compares international sales figures (outside France for SYSTRA),

• #40 in the Top 150 Global Design Firms, which compares turnover worldwide (including France).

ENR is the leading American magazine in the international engineering sector. Every year, it ranks engineering and civil engineering companies based on their domestic and international sales figures.

High-Speed Rail Win for SYSTRA in California

The SYSTRA-TYPSA JV will play a critical role in the program’s overall success, managing intricate design interfaces, collaborating with future contracts, and supporting seamless integration with key stakeholders. The contract is scheduled to last six years and eight months.

A seasoned team of experts

The team’s leadership, expertise, and commitment were instrumental in securing this prestigious contract. In addition, SYSTRA’s extensive experience and proven leadership in high-speed rail projects around the world solidified our position as a valued partner in realizing the vision of the California High-Speed Rail program.

The team includes 20 subconsultant firms, including 18 small businesses to enhance our team’s capabilities and provide the Authority with the services required for the contract duration. Our commitment to exceeding the Authority’s 31.75% small business participation goal underscores our dedication to inclusivity and excellence.

This landmark endeavour marks the first high-speed rail track and OCS initiative in the United States, setting a new standard for transportation infrastructure. Our team will be integrated with the Authority in Sacramento to deliver the 171-mile (275km) corridor.

SYSTRA: 40 years of excellence in HSR

SYSTRA has been a specialist and pioneer in high-speed rail for over 40 years and has contributed to the design of half of the world’s high-speed lines in service or under construction on five continents. The Group’s experts have contributed to most of the LGVs built in France and are currently working on most of the LGVs being planned in the UK (HS2), the USA (California), Egypt, the Baltic States, Spain, and Sweden.

This operation is fully in line with SYSTRA’s ambition to strengthen its position as a leader in public transport and sustainable mobility in a global market with strong growth potential. With a presence in 80 countries, SYSTRA intends to accelerate its growth strategy with the support of the new shareholders, especially through a proactive acquisition policy in high-potential geographical areas.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to the information and consultation procedure with employee representative bodies and the approval of the various regulatory authorities. In addition, it will give rise to a referral to the ‘Shareholdings and Transfers Commission’.
