As part of Kuwait’s revived initiative to upgrade infrastructure and address growing traffic congestion issues, the Ministry of Public Works developed a three-package road project to rehabilitate and construct Al Ghouse Road, a 30-kilometer link running parallel to Fahaheel Expressway, King Fahed Ben Abdul Aziz Road from Kuwait City to the Al Ahmadi Industrial Area.
Package 2 extends from the Sabah Al-Salem area to the Seventh Ring Road. The Al Ghouse Road Pkg 2, RA/264 consists of six multi-span bridge junctions. The junctions are continuous dual precast segmental box girders of 5 to 7 spans, 40 to 45 m long (130 ft to 145 ft), erected with the span-by-span method.
SYSTRA IBT served as the Independent Checking Engineer for the junction, overseeing the design check, construction engineering, shop drawings, and geometry control for six junctions of the dual carriageway, which collectively contribute to a bridge deck area totaling 36,000 m2. This includes comprehensive examination and verification of the superstructure box girder, pier segments, and foundation pile cap.
