The Davenport Diamond Guideway is an innovative rail project designed to enhance rail service capacity in the Toronto area by eliminating one of the last high-traffic rail crossings. This initiative involves constructing an elevated guideway to separate passenger and freight trains, accompanied by the redevelopment of the space under the structure for the community’s benefit.
Integral to Metrolinx’s Regional Express Rail (RER) program, the Davenport Diamond Rail Grade Separation Project is pivotal in increasing train trips on GO Transit’s Barrie line. The goal is to transform it from a commuter service to a frequent, two-way, all-day service, available seven days a week.
This extensive program represents collaborative efforts from the provincial government, Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, and the City of Toronto, aiming to enhance transportation across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
SYSTRA IBT is responsible for the detailed design and construction engineering of the elevated guideway, playing a crucial role in ensuring the overall success of this transformative project.
