Because the transit corridor is largely being developed in an urban environment, the system is designed as an elevated structure for nearly the entire length of the alignment. For phase 3 of this project, SYSTRA is the designer and engineer of record for most of the five-mile elevated guideway in some of the most congested areas of Honolulu.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Typical span lengths range from 65 to 150 feet and one longer pair of 165-foot continuous spans. The substructure, designed for high seismic demand, consists of single reinforced concrete piers supported on mono-drilled shafts.
