SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px\">Understand better who we are by visiting www.systracanada.com.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Context<\/h2>\n<p><p style=\"margin: 0px\">Systra Canada is currently seeking an experienced Overhead Contact System (OCS) Design Lead to support the planning, design, and delivery of Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects across Canada.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Missions\/Main Duties<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee OCS design and delivery for rail\/transit projects.<\/li>\n<li><span>Lead the design of the OCS, including alignment of contact wire, support structures, sectioning and isolation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Develop OCS design criteria, layouts and details<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Coordinate OCS interfaces with Traction Power, Signaling, Communications, Civil\/Structural, Trackwork, Stations\/Architectural, and Utilities, ensuring physical and functional integration.<\/li>\n<li>Support the management of System Interfaces and creation of Interface Control Documents (ICDs)<\/li>\n<li>Review and approve OCS designs, drawings, and specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Sign off the project documents (reports, drawings, calculations, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and client requirements (CSA, AREMA, EN, IEC, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Review contractor submissions including shop drawings, material approvals, method statements, and RFIs, providing timely technical responses and design clarifications.<\/li>\n<li>Attend project meetings and provide technical expertise.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in design reviews and hazard\/interface workshops, providing OCS input to support safe, buildable, and maintainable solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Allocate tasks and manage team resources for OCS-related work.<\/li>\n<li>Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.<\/li>\n<li>Implement QA\/QC processes for OCS deliverables.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct design reviews and audits.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and progress updates.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.<\/li>\n<li>Resolve site issues related to OCS installation and integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Profile\/Skills<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil\/Structural Engineering.<\/li>\n<li>P.Eng. designation in Canada (or eligibility to obtain).<\/li>\n<li>At least 10 years of railway experience in OCS design and implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Experience as an OCS Engineer in the design phase, with the ability to analyze and comment on designs, providing expert consultancy during feasibility, preliminary, detailed design, and assessment of constructability.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with OCS structural calculations in Canadian Context.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent leadership, coordination and communication skills with a proven ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and drive digital innovation.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in software used for OCS design, such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.<\/li>\n<li>Commissioning supervision experience is advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Preference for Light Rail Transit (LRT) experience.
