At SYSTRA, we have taken a systems approach to develop our design delivery framework. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recognise that designing for modern methods of construction (MMC) should take place within a collaborative environment that includes the asset owner client, construction delivery team, maintenance team and the specialist supply network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our approach considers solutions at the discipline level up to the multidisciplinary approach. Our framework is clearly shown in the diagram.<\/p>\n\n\n

We take a holistic approach to the delivery of infrastructure assets across the lifecycle, the definition and management of requirements to ensure that client and stakeholder needs and objectives are both understood and addressed by optimising outcomes and values of the asset within the community it is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design for Construction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

By identifying opportunities for offsite construction and adopting innovative construction techniques, we develop solutions at the design stage that satisfy safety, planning, consenting, construction, operations\/maintenance and repurposing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuous Improvement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This forms the core output of our approach. The industry has numerous lessons and experiences from major infrastructure projects which can be applied to new projects to improve their performance. We have a database of our projects which captures best practices and reasons for the challenges faced. By iteratively implementing previous lessons, we can evolve and refine the deployment of MMC, thereby driving innovation and efficiency at the construction stage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

By adopting the principles of ISO 44001, we work with all stakeholders at the early stage of design development to identify and resolve potential conflicts with a view to optimising asset performance over its operational lifecycle. With our experience on major infrastructure alliances, we are aware of the importance of creating a collaborative environment for the project delivery.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Digital Technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We provide the ‘Golden Thread’ of information through the asset whole lifecycle to address the flow of appropriate data for technical and quality assurance. This is achieved through the development of a GIS-enabled digital twin that connects manufactured products information with the requirements of asset managers. Our key performance indicators (KPIs) are established and tracked throughout the process, along with the insight providing the next stage of improvement. We provide 4D BIM digital rehearsals with the pre-planning construction teams and review complex installation procedures with human factors to ensure construction methodologies are achievable within the schedule provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We identify, analyse and mitigate risks (threats and opportunities) at all stages of the asset lifecycle, by reviewing the concerns of stakeholders at the early concept stage. We are able to ensure the solutions will have minimal change along the design and construction lifecycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3S & Sustainability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Through our Health, Safety & Security (3S) and Sustainable Design & Construction Framework (SDCF), we embed our design outcomes to achieve safe and sustainable outcomes on projects and programmes. We ensure clients are aware of the balance and trade-offs between the targets for financial performance and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
