And for the curious minded you can also find out how cr\u00e8me anglaise and circular saws made it into the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving down the carbon cost of infrastructure is a subject dear to Mike. He considers that if we are to reach net zero by 2050 (or sooner) we must take a system-wide approach. That means not looking at transport end users and modes in isolation, but at the infrastructure required to facilitate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike is keen to reiterate that \u201crail is the lowest carbon emitting form of land-based transport\u201d and how it is \u201ccrucial for our shift towards net zero, but only if it can be allowed to add capacity or grow and accept modal shift.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike illustrates that although designing a zero-emission hydrogen train is a laudable goal, it is entirely dependent on the required infrastructure to support it. Mike makes the point that we still need to build infrastructure to support our net zero goal, but we can do so in a far more sustainable way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As Business Development Director, Mike is very proud of the approach developed by his colleagues at SYSTRA that puts carbon reduction at the forefront of all new projects. He informs Antony about our natural progression into other sectors facing similar infrastructure challenges, specifically the water and energy sectors.
