{"id":13145,"date":"2023-12-19T12:31:03","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T12:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/uk\/?p=13145"},"modified":"2023-12-19T13:25:58","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T13:25:58","slug":"york-engineering-apprentice-ends-2023-with-multiple-award-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/uk\/news\/york-engineering-apprentice-ends-2023-with-multiple-award-wins\/","title":{"rendered":"York engineering apprentice ends 2023 with multiple award wins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lucy Davison, a Design Co-ordinator with SYSTRA, is ending 2023 with a bang after scooping a series of awards and being recognised by her colleagues and throughout the industry for her passion and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During the year, Lucy was named The Royal Navy Higher or Degree Apprentice of the Year 2023 for Yorkshire &amp; Humber in the National Apprenticeship Awards, the Young Rail Professional Apprentice of the Year, and won SYSTRA\u2019s Early Careers Excellence Award late 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She was recognised across all these achievements for her commitment to her career, her outstanding progress in her studies, and her proactive involvement towards inspiring her colleagues and future apprentice engineers, especially women and young people. As part of her enthusiasm for encouraging others into engineering, Lucy has visited more than 30 local schools and colleges in her career to encourage future generations to consider an apprenticeship route into the rail sector. She has also lead and participated in several high-profile Institution of Civil Engineers events, including at The House of Lords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year she also completed a 12-month tenure on the highly competitive Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) President\u2019s Future Leader Scheme 2022-23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucy joined SYSTRA\u2019s apprenticeship programme in 2014 as an Assistant Track Technician. Since then she has achieved a BEng degree in Civil Engineering with First Class Honours from Teesside University and wishes to further her studies through achieving an MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration at the University of Birmingham. The support from across SYSTRA is amazing, and I\u2019m thankful to all my colleagues for believing in me and giving me the challenges and opportunities I need to progress.
