My role at SYSTRA<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I support SYSTRA\u2019s Marketing and Communications team across a range of tasks including internal and\u00a0external communications, financial administration,\u00a0graphic design,\u00a0updating the website and much more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My career journey<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d\u00a0say my career path has been\u00a0a\u00a0little\u00a0nonconventional. Having finished the first year of a\u00a0BA\u00a0in Illustration during\u00a0lockdown, I learned\u00a0university\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0for\u00a0me\u00a0and\u00a0left\u00a0early\u00a0to start\u00a0working full time.\u00a0Whilst working\u00a0in retail\u00a0and\u00a0admin jobs, I continued\u00a0developing\u00a0my illustrations on the side. This led to\u00a0me\u00a0starting\u00a0a small business\u00a0on\u00a0social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I picked up some marketing basics\u00a0through\u00a0running my art business,\u00a0and following a career break spent living abroad, I returned to the UK and found my role with SYSTRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When did you realise this was the career path for you?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m\u00a0currently at the start of my career, but I love the variety of creative tasks I get to work on. There are also\u00a0opportunities to develop a wider\u00a0skill set\u00a0and challenge myself in new ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you got any words of wisdom for someone starting out in a similar role?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Say\u00a0\u2018yes\u2019\u00a0to as much as you can.\u00a0Every new task you take up and connection you make will help you massively\u00a0in the long run. By saying\u00a0\u2018yes\u2019,\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0developed both in my work and as a person\u00a0\u2013\u00a0I’m\u00a0continuing to push myself out of my comfort zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The continued investment in wellbeing champions, mental health first aider training and the company\u2019s sincere efforts to make everyone feel included, ensures colleagues feel valued and supported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m\u00a0also a part of SYSTRA\u2019s Next Generation Leadership Team\u00a0(NGLT),\u00a0which gives me\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity to work on exciting initiatives alongside other early years\u00a0colleagues.\u00a0The NGLT\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0SYSTRA\u2019s dedication to breaking down barriers between senior leaders and colleagues at the start of their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With such power in diversity, what unique perspective do you bring to the table?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d\u00a0say my decision to drop out of university and develop my skills\u00a0by myself\u00a0has given me a unique point of view.\u00a0Living\u00a0abroad has also\u00a0exposed me\u00a0to another country\u2019s\u00a0culture,\u00a0which has been a\u00a0really\u00a0valuable\u00a0experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where is the place that has inspired you the most?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Malm\u00f6,\u00a0without a doubt.\u00a0The city is vibrant,\u00a0welcoming\u00a0and has\u00a0become\u00a0a second\u00a0home to many people across the world.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0also at the forefront of sustainable travel with some of the best cycling infrastructure\u00a0in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does true sustainability really mean to you?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Living in harmony with nature. Everyone has a part to play and can make a difference by making small behavioural changes,\u00a0alongside working in\u00a0the\u00a0community to encourage more systemic change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What would a green future<\/em> look like?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For me, a green future would\u00a0involve a collective effort to make positive environmental impact the core of decision-making across all industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you look after your wellbeing outside of work?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy language learning and embracing the culture and traditions that come with it. In particular, the Swedish tradition of fika (taking a short pause to\u00a0relax and\u00a0enjoy a coffee\u00a0and a sweet treat) is a great practice for mindfulness and being present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could spend your lunchbreak with someone you really admire, who would you choose?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d\u00a0love to spend a lunchbreak with the late\u00a0author, novelist, painter,\u00a0illustrator\u00a0and comic strip author\u00a0Tove Jansson. Having an opportunity to hear about her\u00a0creative\u00a0process\u00a0first-hand\u00a0would\u2019ve\u00a0been a real honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you had to pick, which mode of transport would you use for the rest of your life?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rail would be the easy choice for me.\u00a0As relaxing as it is watching the world roll by\u00a0outside\u00a0your window,\u00a0the\u00a0role\u00a0rail\u00a0plays\u00a0in sustainable transport\u00a0makes the journey even\u00a0more enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
