The rest area of interest in this study is the two future rest areas, namely, the Sriracha service area and the Bang Lamung service centre located along the intercity motorway number 7 (M7) route. The motorway M7 route serves the corridor between Bangkok and the eastern region facilitating the movement of people and goods to the country\u2019s key industrial and tourism areas. The route begins in the Bangkok urban section at the Srinagarindra interchange and ends at Utapao with a total length of approximately 153 kilometres. Only one rest area is currently in operation on this route, the Bang Pakong service centre, located approximately 50 kilometres east of Bangkok. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To address the need for additional rest stops along the motorway route, following the recent completion of the motorway M7 route to Utapao, the Department of Highway (DOH) has decided to construct two new rest areas under the Public-Private Partnership scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SYSTRA was engaged by a Confidential potential investor on a package of studies for motorways. The current study is to update a traffic demand model and to provide forecasting of the two rest areas. The outcomes of the works are intended to inform the financial investment basis of the project and to provide inputs for downstream workstreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
