# IT Specialist

## Context

The position is responsible for handling all hardware and software requirements
of the Company, to include the canvassing, purchasing, inventory, monitoring,
and assessing all relevant and related Information Technology (IT) needs. The
position will also establish and ensure the data security and network security
of SYSTRA Philippines and resolve the day-to-day IT issues and requirements of
the workforce.

## Missions/Main Duties

- Provides troubleshooting/support for technical problems reported by end users
  on hardware, software, communication, or network-related problems;
  independently resolves routine problems; and, recognizes issues that require a
  higher level of expertise and refers them to appropriate personnel within
  SYSTRA Group IT.
- Manages and participates in the installation of operating systems and/or
  system upgrades/configuration.
- In coordination SYSTRA Group IT, installs, and maintains network hardware and
  operating system software on computer network.
- Ensures that a current backup of all system information is properly
  maintained.
- Installs, configures and monitors hardware and software performance of Company
  computers, servers and network equipment, to include routers, switches,
  printers, and storage systems.
- Ensures protection and security of the network server against unauthorized
  uploading, downloading, and transferring of saved files.
- Leads all procurement activities for all IT-related equipment, to include
  canvassing of suppliers/vendors, negotiating of prices/terms of payment,
  preparing purchase orders, and ensuring that goods and services are received
  in full and in satisfactory condition.
- Ensures that the delivery of IT services and equipment within the Company is
  done according to schedule in order to avoid delays in submission of
  deliverables by end users.
- Researches and evaluates various hardware and software technologies; assists
  with analysis and recommendation of hardware/software solutions for end users;
  maintains updated knowledge related to technical advances and market prices of
  hardware, software and other IT equipment.
- Configures, documents and distributes new equipment and software to users;
  maintains memorandum receipt records; and prepares and maintains an updated
  inventory of all computer equipment, data communication equipment, and network
  software versions.
- Analyzes system failures, notifies appropriate personnel, and takes
  appropriate action (including internet downtime).
- Drafts technical documentation, standard operating procedures and Company
  guidelines in consultation with SYSTRA Group IT, local IT consultant/s and
  local Corporate Support Services Manager.
- Participates in meetings, training sessions and workshops related to the
  delivery of IT services for the Company, and for compliance with SYSTRA Group
  policies.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

## Profile/Skills

- Principles, practices, and procedures of information systems maintenance and
  operations.
- Methods, tools, and techniques of testing, troubleshooting, problem solving,
  and maintaining hardware and software related to computers, mobile devices,
  audio visual, network, and communication systems.
- Computer equipment maintenance procedures, hardware configurations, and
  operating principles.
- Network and computer operations, terminals, printers, modems, and
  communications equipment; network operating systems; network topologies and
  software.
- Computer software applications, including word-processing, spreadsheets,
  databases, and graphics applications.
- Degree from an accredited college in computer science, information technology,
  electronics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing similar duties as an
  Information Technology Officer.
