{"id":6571,"date":"2022-12-05T16:29:55","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T15:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/ireland\/?p=6571"},"modified":"2023-10-12T09:08:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T08:08:05","slug":"ebbw-vale-frequency-enhancement-rail-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/ireland\/news\/ebbw-vale-frequency-enhancement-rail-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebbw Vale Frequency Enhancement rail project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SYSTRA has been appointed as design partner with contractor AmcoGiffen to deliver a seven-mile loop reinstating the old twin-track Welsh Ebbw Vale line from Crosskeys in the south to Llanhilleth in the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall construction cost will be over \u00a320m with the 12-month design contract worth \u00a32m for SYSTRA, led by our Senior PM David Camacho. SYSTRA \u2019s scope is multi-disciplinary incorporating civil and structural engineering, geotechnical, environmental and architectural interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The rail improvements are part of a \u00a370m investment, funded by Blaenau Gwent Council, and supported by the Welsh Government. The project will deliver new track enabling an hourly service between Ebbw Vale Town and Newport. New platforms that will be installed at Llanhilleth and Newbridge making the stations fully accessible for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ebbw Vale improvements also include an underbridge replacement, creation of new bridge walkways to five separate structures as well as enhancing multiple embankments, cuttings and retaining structures along the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>James Price, Transport for Wales Chief Executive, said: \u201cThis substantial investment from the Welsh Government will bring significant benefits for people living in Ebbw Vale and the surrounding communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column has-griplusclair-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-griplusclair-background-color has-background\">The project underpins SYSTRA\u2019s strategy to grow its portfolio in the conventional rail market, and further build its successful collaboration with major contractors AmcoGiffen and project sponsor Network Rail.
