SYSTRA is working on the project as part of the TRU East Alliance, alongside Network Rail, Murphy, Siemens and VolkerRail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/07\/image-within-news-station-bridge-installation-cross-gates-tru.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45052\" style=\"width:990px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Station Road bridge demolition and installation in progress in Cross Gates<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the installation of overhead line equipment (OLE) earlier this year, 7.5km of wiring has now been completed between Micklefield and Church Fenton. Just to the east of this location, electric passenger services between York and Church Fenton are set to launch in the coming months, following last year\u2019s successful switch-on between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1100298661\/b0a317d0ce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cross Gates<\/a>, Station Road bridge was safely demolished and replaced so that OLE can be installed throughout the area. And around 750m of track has been renewed between Killingbeck and Cross Gates, which will support smoother, more reliable travel. A new track crossover was also installed, allowing trains to switch lines more easily and give the TRU programme more flexibility for future upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element has-pale-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"grid-template-columns:30% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/07\/spencer-cook-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45038 size-full\" style=\"object-position:52% 34%\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The innovative and sustainable approach taken in the design and installation is evidence of the commitment made across the whole project to delivering a faster, greener, more reliable railway.<\/p>\n<cite>Spencer Cook, Senior Track Engineer, SYSTRA Ltd<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA was the designer responsible for the track staging design for the crossover, which used a modular joint to help reduce the impact on services while the installation was carried out. It is one of the first sites in the UK to use this type of modular, more durable joint, and the carbon impact of the installation was reduced thanks to partially recycled ballast and a \u201cgreen\u201d rail which uses less energy in its fabrication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Spencer Cook, Senior Track Engineer at SYSTRA, said: \u201cThe installation of this crossover represents months of successful teamwork between all the TRU East Alliance partners, and is a key element of the wider project.
