{"id":20275,"date":"2024-11-18T09:29:24","date_gmt":"2024-11-18T09:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/ireland\/?p=20275"},"modified":"2024-11-18T09:29:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-18T09:29:25","slug":"systra-secures-43-5k-for-ai-research-into-road-safety-incidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/ireland\/news\/systra-secures-43-5k-for-ai-research-into-road-safety-incidents\/","title":{"rendered":"SYSTRA secures \u00a343.5k for AI research into road safety incidents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SYSTRA has secured \u00a343.5k from the <a href=\"https:\/\/cp.catapult.org.uk\/news\/cutting-edge-transport-projects-receive-1-4-million-to-encourage-innovation-and-deliver-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transport Research and Innovation Grant (TRIG)<\/a> to fund work on addressing road safety with artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The transport consultancy will use the funding to develop a novel AI application that can classify the physical environment surrounding road collisions in Great Britain, using data from OS MasterMap, Earth Observation and CAD drawings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This will allow the identification of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>where risks of serious and fatal collisions exist on the road network;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what type, quantity and severity of incidents are associated with different physical environments;
