Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated phase 1 of line 6 on 28 December 2022. This section, which connects the districts of Uttara North and Agargaon as well as the BRTC* bus stations, represents more than half of the project&#8217;s total length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill has-pale-blue-background-color has-background\" style=\"grid-template-columns:22% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/www.systra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/hari-somalraju-9-002-1-905x1024.jpg);background-position:57% 15%\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/hari-somalraju-9-002-1-905x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10726737 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are very pleased to be part of the completion of the metro in Bangladesh. This is a major step in the transformation of its capital city, which meets its ambition to offer safe and fast transport to an ever-growing population. Our teams remain fully mobilised to support the design of Line 5 and Line 1, for which we won a major contract at the end of 2022.<\/p>\n<cite>Hari Somalraju, Managing Director, SYSTRA India<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-metro-co-signed-by-systra\">A metro co-signed by SYSTRA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>SYSTRA&#8217;s teams participated in the design of Line 6 from 2018 with the Indian manufacturer Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T), to carry out studies of the track and power supply systems, as well as the connection to the maintenance centre. A major feature of this overhead line is the 1,500-volt DC catenary power supply, which requires the integration of pylons on the viaduct infrastructure to support the overhead contact line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.systra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/gettyimages-1440334372_mini-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10726927\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Urban landscape with the Dhaka Metro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-ambitions-of-an-expanding-network\">The ambitions of an expanding network<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step for Line 6 is the commissioning of phase 2 from Agargaon to Motijheel, expected in 2023 and for which work is more than 70% complete, before a phase 3 towards Kamalapur in 2025, which will be interconnected with the future Line 1 and the capital&#8217;s railway station. Once complete, the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) network will extend over 129km, almost half of which will be underground. It should have 112 stations and 6 lines, of which 4 are planned and 2 are under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-long-track-record-of-success-for-systra-on-the-dhaka-metro\">A long track record of success for SYSTRA on the Dhaka Metro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the feasibility study for Line 5 in 2016, our first contract in the country, SYSTRA has been regularly called upon by the DMTCL**, the authority in charge of developing the Dhaka Metro: the feasibility studies for line 6, the installation of switches and ventilation systems for Line 1 in 2019, the execution studies and supervision of work on the northern section of Line 5 in 2021, and finally the supervision of the 12 civil engineering, electrification and systems packages for Line 1 in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-features-line-6-of-the-dhaka-metro\">Key features \u2013 Line 6 of the Dhaka Metro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Line 6: almost 22km in length and 17 elevated stations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phase 1: almost 12 km and 9 elevated stations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 train every 4 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60,000 passengers per hour\/ per direction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">*BRTC: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">** DMTCL: Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After India and Pakistan, Bangladesh is the third country in South Asia to have a metro system.
