In just eight months, SYSTRA was attributed the redevelopment of Mumbai\u2019s Chaatrapati Shivaji station<\/a>, followed by the Ahmedabad station <\/a>redevelopment in consortium with Mace. At the end of 2024, SYSTRA signed a contract with the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) for the complete redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station, again in a consortium with Mace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this Project Management Consultancy Services (PMCS) contract, our teams will be applying their expertise in project management and project support to the review of studies, works supervision, quality control, safety coordination, interface management, testing and commissioning of the new facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A booming rail network<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

New Delhi\u2019s central station is the almost obligatory stop-off point for trains crossing northern India. Half a million passengers pass through its fifteen or so platforms every day, travelling to destinations all over the country, including Mumbai and Chennai in the south, and Calcutta and Ahmedabad in the east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project includes new car parks, improved modal connections to buses and the surrounding districts via pedestrian bridges, a redesigned road network and a dedicated concourse for passengers transferring to the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modernisation of New Delhi\u2019s station is part of a programme to regenerate India’s rail network, which is due to include new high-speed lines by 2040. Once modernised, New Delhi Railway Station will offer a better welcome and accommodate more passengers, becoming a major commercial hub for the capital, with the aim of being one of the best-equipped multi-service hubs in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
