# Mumbai Coastal Road Project

![Mumbai Coastal Road Project](https://www.systra.com/india/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2022/11/microsoftteams-image-33.png)

**Mumbai Coastal Road Project PKG – II runs**
**from Baroda Palace to Worli End of BWSL with the total project length being around 2.72 km. Coastal road project is expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the western parts of Mumbai. It is the first road project in India using Monopile technology. This solution reduces the project’s footprint on the seabed, and therefore its impact on the marine ecosystem during construction. Mumbai’s coastal road bridge will be 2,100 metres long and 34 metres wide. 15.66 metres long interchange is also under construction.**

Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) invited tender bids to Mumbai
Coastal Road PKG – II (on EPC mode). Contract was won by HCC – HDC JV (CJV). CJV
appointed SYSTRA as the detailed design consultant (DDC). PKG-II is a
multi-disciplinary project involving design of complex interchange structure to
under-ground car park building. The arms (4 Nos) & Major Bridges planned with
Monopile technology in the marine portion with diameters ranging from 2.5 metres
to 3.5 metres, significantly improved materials efficiency and in addition,
this solution reduced the duration of the construction works. However, group
piles of 1.5m diameter were used in the land portion.

## Key features of the project

SYSTRA Group in India, as the DDC of the project is involved in preparation of
Civil Works (Major & Minor Structures, Building Structure, Underpasses &
others)

- MEP works
- Road Works
- Drainage
- Road Lighting System
- SCADA & ITS

SYSTRA partnered with HCC – HDC JV for Detailed Design works and worked
tirelessly to bring down the overall cost of the project by carrying out value
engineering.
