**Digital engineering is changing the way infrastructure is designed, delivered and managed. **

By combining **BIM**, **GIS**, **3D modelling**, **connected data **and
**advanced analytics**, it creates the continuity of information needed to
support smarter decisions across the entire asset lifecycle.

At SYSTRA, we treat data as an engineering asset. Our objective is to create

## Building the foundations of the digital twin

Transport infrastructure generates large volumes of data, from design models and
technical documents to asset records and maintenance information. When this data
is structured, governed and connected, it becomes possible to build a virtual
representation of the physical asset.

A **digital twin** is this virtual, structured and connected representation. It
brings together data from design, construction, operations and maintenance to
provide a coherent view of the asset, support scenario testing, anticipate needs
and improve decision-making.
