# The Turin Metro – Italy

**SYSTRA’s involvement with the Turin Metro began in 1999 with the detailed design and supervision of works for Line 1, right up to commissioning in successive phases in 2006.**

### A NEW ASSIGNMENT FOR A NEW LINE

In 2017, SYSTRA was selected to do the preliminary design for a second line.
This project was carried out with Italian companies. Line 2 will cross line 1
and, like line 1, will be fully automated and underground. In 2020, the
Municipality of Turin validated all the deliverables produced since the start of
the project.

This important stage adds to the previous SYSTRA milestones on this project: the
completion of feasibility studies on the central lot in May 2018, the public
consultation phase the following month for which we assisted the client in the
preparation of communications support tools, and finally the validation at the
end of 2018 of the feasibility studies for the two project extensions.

### IMPROVING TRAVEL AND REDUCING POLLUTION

Our work on the Turin Metro demonstrates our client’s confidence in our ability
to carry out projects of this type and to select the best partners at both a
national and local level. We aim to deliver innovative metro lines to meet
people’s mobility needs while alleviating pollution and traffic congestion.
