# Doha Metro- Qatar

**The construction of a metro network is a major part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030, the country’s long-term development plan. Positive environmental and economic benefits are expected as the [metro](https://www.systra.com/en/markets/metro/) should reduce carbon emissions and costs related to traffic congestion. For residents, the metro will provide a safe, clean, and reliable means of transport. Capable of reaching 100 km/h, the Doha Metro will be one of the fastest driverless trains in the world.**

### A solid experience on the Doha Metro

SYSTRA began work on Phase I of the Doha Metro in 2014 as part of a joint
venture with Parsons. The contract comprised project management, design reviews,
site supervision, testing and commissioning, engineering management and
interface management.

As Project Management Consultancy for Systems (PMCS), SYSTRA was especially
responsible for track works, energy, signalling, telecommunications, automatic
fare collection, SCADA, tunnel ventilation systems, platform screen doors,
rolling stock and depots.

### A major milestone

On 8th May 2019, the first section of the Doha metro’s Red Line was opened to
the public, a major milestone for SYSTRA. More milestones followed with the
opening of the Gold Line in November 2019 and the Green Line in December plus
the final section of the Red Line bringing the entire network into operation.
Another line, The Blue Line, is scheduled for service in 2025.

### Technical excellence

With this contract SYSTRA strengthens its leading position in the implementation
of public transport projects in the Middle East and plays an increasingly
prominent role in the development of its transport infrastructure in the region.
