# Bellechasse bus depot – Canada

![Bellechasse bus depot – Canada](https://www.systra.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/bus.jpg)

**In 2018, SYSTRA was selected by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), the public transport agency that operates the integrated transit network in Quebec’s largest city, to carry out a feasibility study on the infrastructure of [a future bus depot](https://www.systra.com/en/markets/bus-rapid-transit/) in the municipality of Bellechasse in Canada.**

### A NEW REFERENCE FOR SYSTRA

Our teams in Canada helped STM define the criteria required for this depot,
which has been fitted out to accommodate a fleet of more than 200 electric
buses. This is a new strategic reference for the Group, as it enables us to
diversify our expertise, particularly towards the bus station market in North
America and elsewhere.

As part of the design and implementation of the future Bellechasse bus garage
SYSTRA Canada collected and analysed all the necessary information relating to
the use of electric buses.

We were responsible for determining the electrical power required to recharge
the buses and for identifying several scenarios for the site’s layout. We then
drew up an inventory of the equipment required for this installation, as well as
the technical documentation for vehicle recharging.

### SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION

The Bellechasse bus garage will be built in line with sustainable development
principles. Everything will be done to ensure the building receives LEED Gold
certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a rating system
for high-quality green buildings.

To successfully execute this project, SYSTRA Canada will work in collaboration
with three partners: RATP, Paris’s state-owned public transport operator; SDK,
an engineering firm that specialises in building structures; and Bisson Fortin
Architecture + Design.
