**EMPLOYEES AT THE HEART OF OUR INNOVATION STRATEGY THROUGH THE SPARK CHALLENGE**

The Group values the ideas and encourages the initiatives of its employees
throughout the world. We are convinced that the company’s potential for
innovation comes from them. In 2020, SYSTRA launched the SPARK Challenge, an
international intrapreneurship programme in which 600 employees have already
taken part and which has incubated around fifteen teams to think up sustainable
solutions that create value for our clients. All SYSTRA employees can submit
their ideas, concepts or innovative projects to invent the mobility of tomorrow.

### PROMOTING FRUGAL INNOVATION

Innovation also means knowing how to question traditional design methods, aiming
to reduce and optimise the use of resources over the entire lifecycle, at all
scales.

Virtuous and innovative value loops are thus sought to:

- Consider by using,
- Always preserve resources in quantity and quality (materials, energy),
- Anticipate market opportunities and logistics,
- Integrate the soil (land/property) in considerations, avoid artificialisation,
- Think in terms of versatility, the evolutionary nature of the structures
  created.

### OUR OBJECTIVES: TO ENSURE INNOVATION AT THE SERVICE OF PROGRESS

**The latest technological developments have revolutionised the world of mobility, with the emergence of new modes of transport, new uses and new players. At SYSTRA, we are analyse the interest and feasibility of deploying these new technologies on both historical and new disruptive modes of transport. 4 questions guide our thinking and analysis.**

#### #1 Are mobility systems becoming safer?

With the  technological research institute SystemX and Nanyang Technological
University (NTU) of Singapore, we are participating in
**the development of a test system based on simulation, evaluation and validation of the performance and functional safety of the autonomous vehicle**
around the ASV research project. 

As part of its project management assistance  assignment, SYSTRA was involved in
the Lusail tramway as **cybersecurity** consultant.  

#### #2 How does innovation respond to environmental challenges?

On the High Speed 2 project in the UK, a high speed network, our aim is to
**reduce the carbon footprint by 50% **compared with its preliminary design.

In Montreal, we are carrying out a project to
**electrify a bus transport centre** with the objective of sizing the right
infrastructure according to the right transport need.

 We define the need, analyse the socioeconomic aspects of disruptive
transportation systems such as **Hyperloop**, to establish the best economic
equation and validate the business model. Once this step has been validated, we
look at the technical feasibility of the solution.

#### #3 How does innovation improve network performance?

We have been working since 2017 with SNCF, ALSTOM and SYSTEM X on a
**prototype autonomous train** as part of the TAS (autonomous transport safety
programme).

For Greater Lyon, we are designing a **data hypervisor** to facilitate decision
making through better understanding and operation.

We design new **Digital Asset Management **services to optimise preventive and
predictive maintenance solutions.

We design **Digital Twins** for example to simulate CO2 emissions in metro
infrastructures.

#### #4 How does innovation serve social and territorial cohesion?

With the Navigogo project, the first **web-app** experiment in the United
Kingdom, we are optimising routes among several mobility solutions and
encouraging virtuous mobility.

In the metropolis of Abidjan, SYSTRA has carried out a
**mapping of the city’s buses and informal transport** with the start-up Jungle
Bus.   

We are studying the feasibility of developing **drone taxis** (Urban Air
Mobility) for various cities such as Los Angeles, Jakarta and São Paulo.
