Start of testing on the Dubai Tram/LRT
On January 26th 2014, the first tests were successfully completed on the Dubai Tram/LRT in the presence of HE Mattar Al-Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority and Mahmoud Dow, Vice-President SYSTRA Middle East.
SYSTRA is responsible for project management and oversight. It is the first tramway/LRT in the Persian Gulf and due for commissioning in November 2014. It is a catenary free line, just like the Bordeaux tramway/LRT.
Nicole Bricq, France’s Foreign Trade Secretary, visited the Dubai tramway/LRT site as part of her official trip to the UAE on January 20th/21st, to promote French interests in the country.
