New U-shaped SYSTRA viaduct for Kuala-Lumpur’s Light Rail Transit Line 3
SYSTRA has won a contract to conduct the preliminary design of the Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) in Kuala-Lumpur. The project is owned by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, the country’s largest public transport operator with MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd as the Project Delivery Partner.
Developed in line with Greater Kuala-Lumpur/Klang Valley Land Public Transport Masterplan, LRT3 will be a key feature in extending rail connectivity to more than two million people by 2020. With a total length of 37km, out of which 35km are elevated and 2km underground, the LRT3 line will connect Bandar Utama and Johan Setia districts, both located on the Western part of Kuala-Lumpur.
After the Jakarta Metro, SYSTRA realizes a new success thanks to its U-shaped viaduct solution, to be implemented for the first time in Malaysia.
SYSTRA will bring its skills to carry out this preliminary design: we will perform the viaduct design, underground section design and depot layout; along with railway systems for the entire line (operation studies, rolling stock, as well as the complete range of interfaces). SYSTRA will subsequently support the local consultants in charge of detailed design studies.
